Yes, Helpful…

The Great Dane

Great Dane

All about Great Dane:

Weight Range100 – 130 lbs
Height28 – 34 inches
Lifespan8 – 10 years
ColorsBlack, Brindle, Fawn, Blue, Mantle, Harlequin
Exercise30 – 35 mins daily

Basically, the ancient Great Dane’s were slightly different as compared to the modern Great Dane.

Great Dane is also known as Apollo of Dogs, a giant breed and the origin of this dog is German. And this dog is quite old and according to hillspet Great Dane is found around more than 400 years.

At those times Great Dane were used for hunting wild bear, boars, and deers. Later on, German People kept Dane as a private bodyguard due to the Temperament of Great Dane.

And a good to know the fact that there have been a lot of controversies for the name of Great Dane.

The Initial name was boarhound.

But all apart, during this controversy german breeders, tried to change the name and lot such things happened.

But…

Later on, many English speaking countries began calling this dog The Great Dane after the name appeared in a popular science book.

And from there till now it’s still called The Great Dane.

The temperament of Great Dane

Now let’s discuss the Temperament,

So this is one of the exiting part ‘temperament’ the nature of the dog. Let’s see what is the temperament of The Great Dane:

  • Confident
  • Loving
  • Noble
  • Smart
  • Reserved
  • Protective
  • Caring
  • Loyal
  • Devoted
  • Friendly
  • Gentle
  • Aware

Do you remember that young man that I had mentioned at the start? So the Great Dane he has is a great companion of his for hiking and long walks

But be aware that you don’t go for too many long walks unless your Dane is more than 2 years, this can help you to avoid joint damage!

The Rottweiler

Rottweiler

All about Rottweiler:

Weight Range110 – 130 lbs
Height24 – 27 inches
Lifespan10 – 12 years
ColorsBlack, Tan, Mahogany
Exercise30 – 45 mins daily

My favorite breed, but coming to the point this breed is the oldest herding breeds in the world and likely dates back to the roman empire.

They used Rottweiler to herd and guard cattle as they traveled. Butchers later began using the herding dogs around their shop as guard dogs.

Rottweiler is also used as a police dog, you might have seen in the movies that most of the cops have rottweiler : )

Dobberman, Bloodhound, German Shepherd, Rottweiler, and many more are one of those breeds which are used in cops.

But still today Rottweiler breed is popular, common, and used for either working or companion dog.

The Temperament of Rottweilers

Here are the temperaments:

  • Good Natured
  • Calm
  • Playful
  • Loving
  • Courageous
  • Fearless
  • Loyal
  • Alert
  • Confident
  • Obedient
  • Devoted
  • Self-assured
  • Steady

Yet, Training plays an important role and you must train your rottweilers at the early stage of when it’s a puppy.

Rottie needs to train and socialized at the early stage as I said because when the dog grows you’ll be having a regret that ‘Wish I would have trained him’.

If trained at an early age, good now your Rottie will be obedient to you and will follow your commands.

Rottie & Great Dane…

If these two powerhouse dogs mix the Weiler Dane Puppy steps in and now the characters, traits of these 2 individual dogs come in one.

How will the puppy be?

What will be the temperament, characteristics and etc??

Well, the Weiler Dane would be a handsome, calm, energetic, powerful, calm, good-natured, loyal, smart, friendly, and loving breed.

Weiler Dane would need a spacious house so that they can play and have fun around. You can even take them to the backyard of your house!

The mixed-breed often inherits the muscle and mass from their Rottweiler parent and the height from parent Great Dane and this produces a huge hound.

But at the end of the day, it totally depends on the dog that which traits they inherit!

Training Part is important and you should not ignore this!!

As we have discussed the temperaments of both Rottie and Great Dane in the above sections and from that, we can draw that the Weiler Dane can be stubborn for a few times as we have seen their parents stubborn and headstrong a few of the times.

But they are stubborn only a few times so don’t hesitate enough, be calm and train your dog lovingly.

Like many dogs, Rottweiler can be aggressive but…

But this is not as people believe because studies show that Rottie’s match Lab, Huskies, and many others in a controlled test of aggression.

They would-be loyal, gentle, intelligent, and affectionate.

Moving on…

What are the Training Needs of the Great Dane Rottweiler Mix?

It might be challenging because this breed is intelligent.

But…

If you train them at least for 30 minutes a day that would really bring a change in the canine. You should be consistent in giving them daily training and this should be daily essential for your dog.

They too enjoy daily training, it lets their sharp mind focus on growing and learning.

This also increases their attention span!

Watch this video, which might turn the best training video for your Great Dane. (If you own a Great Dane this video can help you!)

When you get your Great Dane Rottweiler Mix you should focus on the basic key commands during your training like sitting, laying down, come, wait and many more.

The more exercise they get the easier it will be to train them!

(And also remember to praise her when she obeys and does well.)

Weiler Dane Mix – Socialization

Well, if your dog is good with you and with society then your dog is well socialized. But if not, then you need to work on their socializing skills.

Socialization helps the dogs, learning to be part of society.

It is essential!

You must take your Dog outside your house and let them explore the world rather than keeping them in the four walls.

As they move out, they meet different types of people, the environment, buildings, animals, smells, and other dogs.

Health Problems in Rottweiler Great Dane Mix

Before displaying you the checklist of Health Problems, I just want to say that before buying this mixed breed make sure that the breeder should offer a health guarantee on puppies.

If not,

Then I would suggest that look for other breeders who offer a health guarantee and usually reputed breeders do give a guarantee

And health guarantee says that the dog parents were tested before breeding.

If the parents were all in good condition then the puppy would be fit and fine.

Take your puppy from a reputed breeder.

So I hope you got what I was trying to say.

Here’s the list of health problems of the Weiler Dane:

  • Bloating
  • Hip Dysplasia – Abnormal Formation of joints
  • Elbow Dysplasia – Abnormal Formation of joints
  • Enlarging Heart Disease

These health problems are just drawn out by observing the health problems of their parents.

Hip and Elbow Dysplasia is commonly observed in large dogs.

It’s generic but environmental factors do play the role as well. That’s the reason I told you in the above paragraphs that parents should be tested before breeding.

Make sure that your puppy does not overeat as it is linked with bloating, which can be dangerous.

Wobbler’s Syndrome – Cervical Vertebral Instability, this disease is also common and most of the larger dogs prone to this disorder.

Grooming

Their Grooming is pretty minimal but they only need a brush now and then.

Basically, when the hairs of the dog shed, you’ll require a brush. And be prepared to brush them a few times a week.

Give them a bath as needed and not too much that you dry out their skin!
